Safety Tips & Dining Etiquette

Timeleft is dedicated to fostering authentic, peaceful, and meaningful connections through in-person dinners. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we provide essential guidelines on dining etiquette and safety. Following these tips will help make your Timeleft dinner successful and joyful.

Before Dinner

  • Communication: To preserve the excitement of meeting new people, our platform does not allow pre-dinner chats. If you connect with others before the event, we recommend keeping communication minimal.
  • Safety: Inform a trusted friend or family member about your plans to attend a Timeleft dinner. Share the restaurant’s location and your expected arrival time for safety purposes.
  • Preparation: Arrive at the venue with a positive attitude, an open and curious mind, and as well as your assigned table number. Review the restaurant’s menu online if available to familiarize yourself with the dining options.

During Dinner

After Dinner

  • Continued Interaction:
    • Use Timeleft Connect for secure post-dinner discussions. Continue conversations with those who made a positive impression.
    • Share personal information only with those you trust.
    • Join us after dinner for our “last drink” event, where you can mix and mingle with other Timelefters in your area.
  • Safety:
    • Do not transfer money or share financial information with anyone met through Timeleft.
    • If you experience any suspicious or inappropriate behavior, report it immediately here.
  • Transportation:
    • Driving: Avoid driving if you have consumed alcohol or drugs that could impair your ability to drive safely. Arrange alternative transportation such as taxis, rideshares, or public transport if needed.
    • Rides: Do not accept a ride from anyone who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Additional Tips

  • Personal Safety:
    • Keep your drink and personal belongings within your sight at all times.
    • Be mindful of your alcohol intake to stay clear-headed and in control.
    • Please double check with wait staff to ensure no allergens are present.
  • Etiquette:
    • Come Hungry: We love supporting restaurants and have hand selected them based your dietary and budget preferences. Try the food and tell us how we did!
    • Ordering Food: When ordering, be considerate of others’ preferences and dietary restrictions. If the group is sharing dishes, communicate openly to ensure everyone is comfortable with the selections.
    • Splitting the Bill: Bring Cash! While we expect all restaurants to have the ability to split the bill, it is not guaranteed. Common methods include splitting evenly or paying for what you ordered. Use apps or tools for easy bill splitting if needed.
    • Tipping: Follow local customs for tipping. In many places, a tip of 15-20% of the total bill is standard. Consider tipping generously for good service.
  • Behavior:
    • Embrace Diversity. Everyone has different thoughts, views, and feelings. Be curious and open minded.
    • Engage in respectful and inclusive conversation. Be mindful of sensitive topics that may lead to discomfort. (i.e. sharing inappropriate humor or political views may not resonate well)
    • We want you to have a great time, on your own terms! There’s no pressure to stay longer than you’re comfortable with. Feel free to leave whenever it feels right for you.

  • Arrival Time: Arrive on time to show respect for others and to ensure that the dinner starts smoothly. Be mindful that last minute cancellations also affect other participants.
  • Food Preferences: Communicate any dietary restrictions or preferences to the wait staff beforehand, if possible, to avoid any inconvenience.

Content Rights

  • By participating in Timeleft events, participants consent to the capture of photos and videos, which Timeleft may use across social media platforms or third-party marketing channels. While we strive to honor requests for image or video removal, such requests will be addressed based on urgency, with no guarantee of immediate action except in emergency situations.

Incase of Emergency

  • Reach out directly to your local emergency services. This list can help if you do not know.

By following these guidelines, you contribute to creating a respectful and enjoyable environment for all participants. Thank you for being a part of the Timeleft community and for your commitment to a positive dining experience.
