FinOps Specialist

Finance Paris

⌘ About Timeleft

Timeleft brings strangers together for dinner, café, drinks or run. Every week, our algorithm matches groups of people who have never met. 150,000+ people across 200+ cities in 52 countries. Paris is our biggest city, with over 1,200 people seated every week.

We are a subscription business growing fast. That growth creates complexity: multi-currency payment flows, multi-country VAT obligations, a finance stack that has been built at speed. The infrastructure works — but it needs someone to own it properly.

⌘ The Role

Timeleft is entering a new phase: scaling the business 3x and preparing for the next funding round. That means finance operations need to produce reliable numbers, close to real-time, with no room for doubt.

Today, the finance run works — but it relies too much on manual work and senior leadership stepping in. The goal is to build it into something that runs smoothly on its own, so leadership can focus on strategy, investor conversations, and growth.

This is where you come in.

Your mission: take full ownership of the finance run and make it scalable. You are not support. You are the foundation that makes everything else possible.

In practice, you own the monthly close end-to-end, reconcile Stripe, Apple and Google payments against accounting and cash daily, and run AP/AR so nothing falls through the cracks. You keep a live view on cash position, flag risks early, and build the automation that turns all of this into a machine — not a manual effort. When something is off, you are the first to know and the first to fix it.

The more you automate, the more room you create — for yourself to grow into FP&A, business partnering, and strategic analysis alongside the VP Finance.

⌘ What You’ll Own Day to Day

Finance Operations & Accounting Run

  • Run and continuously improve the monthly close with our external accountants — own the calendar, own the checklist, own the narrative
  • Reconcile Stripe, Apple App Store and Google Play vs accounting vs bank cash daily — fees, refunds, chargebacks, all of it
  • Own AP/AR: invoice processing, payment runs, aged balance monitoring, supplier and customer follow-ups
  • Maintain daily and weekly cash visibility — including burn rate and runway horizon
  • Coordinate day-to-day with external accountants (ACL) and advisors
  • Support VAT and sales tax flows

Automation & Tooling

  • Own the finance tool stack: Stripe, Finthesis, Qonto, Tipalti — keep them clean, connected and documented
  • Build automation to reduce manual work on recurring tasks: reconciliations, cash reports, close packs
  • Set up automated daily cash reporting so discrepancies surface in real time, not at month-end
  • Document all finance processes and controls — the goal is that nothing depends only on your memory
  • Be the first line of defense on data quality: flag anomalies, inconsistencies and risks early

Support to FP&A & Leadership

  • Feed reliable, reconciled inputs into forecasting, unit economics and cohort analysis
  • Analyse actual vs forecast deviations — surface the why, not just the what
  • Support ad-hoc analyses when needed — you are not the analyst, but you make the analyst’s job possible

⌘ Required Experience & Skills

Must-haves

  • Audit background from a major firm, followed by a finance ops or controller role in a scale-up, SaaS or marketplace
  • Solid hands-on experience with monthly close, AP/AR, and multi-source cash reconciliation
  • Comfortable in imperfect environments: systems that are good but not perfect, processes that are being built as you go
  • Autonomous and rigorous — you close the loop, you document, you don’t need to be chased
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Appetite for automation — you default to building systems, not doing things manually. Scripts, Sheets, AI tools: whatever removes manual work.
  • Based in Paris

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Stripe, Finthesis, Pennylane, or similar modern finance stacks
  • Exposure to subscription business mechanics: MRR, refunds, chargebacks, payment fee structures
  • Knowledge of VAT/OSS or US sales tax compliance
  • Experience using AI tools in a finance context — automated reporting, anomaly detection, cash dashboards.

What’s in It for You

  • Real ownership from day one — this is not a support role, it’s a pillar role
  • A clean handover from a structured finance function, and a VP Finance who will invest in your success
  • A lean team where your work is visible and your impact is direct
  • A company with product-market fit, international reach, and an ambitious growth trajectory
  • Regular Timeleft dinners — because understanding the product is part of the job
